Last checked 2026-11-01 · Sources linked below · Live rebate tracker

Short answer: If your 2025 after-tax household income (line 23600 minus line 43500, for you plus your spouse or partner) is at or below the median for your province and household size, you may get up to $10,000. Otherwise $2,000.
Household Rebate
At or below the median after-tax income for your province and household size Up to $10,000
Above it $2,000

The calculation

  1. Open your 2025 tax return (notice of assessment helps).
  2. Line 23600 (net income) minus line 43500 (total tax payable).
  3. If you have a spouse or common-law partner, do the same for them and add the two.
  4. Compare the total with the table below. The higher rebate needs income equal to or less than the figure.

Who counts in the household?

The page explains how to add spouse or partner income, but doesn't define household size, for example adult children. Unverified until the government clarifies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate after-tax household income?

From your 2025 tax return, take line 23600 (net income) and subtract line 43500 (total tax payable). Do the same for a spouse or common-law partner and add them together.

How is income verified?

When you apply for the higher amount, you provide your SIN and it is securely sent to the CRA to verify household income.

Will I get the full $10,000?

Not necessarily. It's 'up to' $10,000, and the government says actual amounts depend on income and the cost of the equipment installed.
